Join the HC Opportunity Center as we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. Every year, companies look for places to volunteer and make a difference in their communities. Come volunteer for the day and join us and our participants in our Skill Development Work Center. Bring your team and work one-on-one with our participants helping them learn new skills such as communicating with new people, learning positive work habits, and working collaboratively. Step up and volunteer to help us celebrate the dream of an open and inclusive workplace for all. If you can’t make it for MLK Day of service, we welcome volunteers on other days. Come get involved!
We encourage our supporters in the community to celebrate this holiday designated as a National Day of Service by volunteering where they feel engaged in the mission. Take an active role in improving our local community – come and work with us!
The more volunteers, the merrier!
– Engage with our participants;
– Learn more about diversity and inclusivity for adults with disabilities; and
– Change a life by mentoring a worker for the day.
**Casual dress, closed-toed shoes
**Bring a snack and water bottle
**Volunteer hours are 9:30 AM – 2:00 PM
Together, your employees volunteering with our organization will help to strengthen ties in our community as we seek to address employment issues that our participants face every day.
Other Ways to Help HCOC: Want to open your business up for a few hours for a visit?
Many of our participants yearn to seek competitive employment in their community. With our Community Participation Services Program, we open doors to new experiences, confidence, and subsequently, a desire for competitive employment. A visit to a traditional or untraditional workplace could be all they need to take the next steps in competitive employment. Would your company be interested in hosting a small group of driven, curious, and hardworking visitors? Contact Jennifer for more information at Jennifer.Kriesel@Handi-Crafters.org.
